Let me just say that I received the best package from Japan! Just look what was inside. ( I am eating the chocolate as I type!) Chocolate and Chopsticks (they don't work well with chocolate) lip gloss, fun erasers, Mt. Fuji coasters and a cute lamb note book! (Are lambs really pink in Japan?) OK and then, drum roll please...Two beautiful skeins of Noro yarn in rich colors of browns, greys and blues and its made in Japan..go figure! And I saved the best for last...This project bag is so totally cute my sweet pal thought of me while traveling in Thailand and bought it for me!!! Guess what happend while I was out knitting. Good news... no one was in the truck or hurt, bad news.... is it was a DUI hit and run, good news is that the CHP found the vehicle that hit our truck and the best news is that he was insured! Now its the insurance waiting game. But I had a great weekend with my daughter and sister on an overnight knit-a-thon!

This is a scarf I'm working on, my sweet sis got me the yarn (Vegas-Sirdar) for an Easter gift. I only have to finish the left side of my sweater vest and I will be done, oh yea I guess I need a collar for it also! I will post a pic of it ASAP, but first the flowers need to go in the ground, the tile in my bathroom I put up needs grouting, etc. etc.

Busy weekend

So I traveled to the bay area this weekend with my sweet daughter Jenny to a baby shower. Oh my gosh was it nice. It was at a country club (the invite asked all to please observe their no denim policy) Ohh Laa Laaa not exactly what I am used to at a shower. A sit down luncheon, turkey crepes, wonderful salad, and a lovely apple tart dessert ( I went for the food) My daughter Jenny is on the far right, Laura in the middle(the pregnant friend) and Jenny's best friend Jen on the left. After the shower(it was almost 4 hours long) we drove back to my daughters house and Jenny,myself and the helper cats all put together some new side tables Jenny had purchased. we had so much fun together! Oh and Laura loved the cute hat I knitted her!

Christmas is over, the tree is still up, and I have not blogged in a long time! The kids were here for the holidays, we had a really fun time together. And I'm beat! Cleaning, cooking, wraping, and more cleaning after everyone left! But it was so nice to have everyone here! I will be leaving on a trip down the coast next week with my sweet husband!!! Saterday my sister and I are going to the Harvest Festival in Sacramento. Oh I cant wait! I have been to two in San Francisco and they are a hoot! Then after church on Sunday I get to sit and knit! Just take a look at what I received from my Wonderful, Secret Pal!!! The yarn is beautiful and has all my favorite colors in it. There are knitting needles size #1 (I have never seen them so small) and a cute little book. She even made clever stich markers (see pic below) to help me in my sock endeavors. She would love to have time to sit down and update her blog, but quite frankly the girls like a whirlwind of activity this week.

Her Jesse is coming home from Oklahoma where he's been for most of the past four years in the USAF. We're all very happy he's coming home safe!!!

Her Lindsay who's spent the past year in Texas as a volunteer with City Year (part of AmeriCorp) is leaving next week for Ohio, she'll be there on a mission for the next 18 months!
(which means she'll need some very warm knitted wearables hehehe)

So with all of that to prepare for....and her busy life in general..... it's tough to find time to blog...I'm sitting in for her today on that to let you all know.... she's hoping to find time this weekend!!! Til then....

A: I love autumn colors , I love soft wools, and one of my favorites is manos del uruguay!

We just got back from a whirl wind week of driving all over CA. Carol the sweet woman my daughter stayed with in San Antonio came out for a visit. We did Fort Bragg for a night then drove up the CA. coast to Patricks Point. Then home and off to San Francisco for a day trip. Poor thing I think we wore her out! We wanted to fill her last week in the states with fun memories. On Labor Day she flys off to Iraq. She is a Major in the Air Force and is a PA. She will be working in the Trama Surgery Center 20 miles from Bagdad. Are prayers are with her on her 4-6 month stay. She helped us on a few of her days here shopping for Lindsay's Mission. Lindsay leaves for the MTC in Salt Lake on Sept. 16th. I will fly with her and then deliver her on the 18th. She will be gone for 18 months in Cincinnati OH. She is excited to start a new adventure. I finished my sweater side seams last night and now its on the the button bands and the collar. :) I also signed up for SP 9 can't wait to get started on that. :)

Well here is my sweater almost finished! My trip from San Antonio was a long one, 48 hours of drive time. I'm sure my back side is wider! We picked up Lindsay and drove to OK. and spent time with my son Jesse in the Air Force. It was so great to see him! He will be back home with us in October :) I was almost able to complete my companion bag that I am making for a co-worker to use as a diaper bag. We will see how she likes it. Lets put it this way she better, all 48 hrs. of drive time was spent on it! And yes, my sweet husband did most of the driving. Will post a pic of it when I can figure out how!

We leave this Monday to bring my Lindsay girl home from San Antonio! She has been there for a year doing service through City Year. We will fly out and help her drive her car back to CA. And we get to go up through OK to visit my son who in the Air Force! Brad said were looking at at least 48 hours of driving :) Cant you get a sweater done in 48 hours? :) Oh dear, nothing to do but sit in the car and knit .... I cant wait. I thought packing was hard, trying to decide what yarn to take is harder. My Sweater is almost finished, and it looks so great..Im so excited! Will post a pic soon right Roni?

Ok so I havent been knitting lately, been working in the backyard. We finished the front yard in the spring, as you can see by the pic, in the backyard I am bricking the patio, then building the same brick flower beds around the fence. Its not real pretty right now, fence half done, weeds in the yard, but we did pick up all the bricks (by hand) there were about 1800 of them. Talk about a work out. Will post before and after pics of the backyard when we are finished.

Ok, yesterday I get this phone call its my sis calling me from our favorite store..... HeartStrings...
(do ya hear the music in the background when I say there name?). She is calling to inform me that the yarn I have been coveting for the last 4 months or so is now on SALE. Its Optik from Berroco. A big 40 percent off, someone wipe the drool from my chin! I arrived on scene at 4:55 p.m. (thats the fastest my car could take me) She had been there since 2:00 p.m. wandering around in yarn bliss. I entered the sacred store and there it was!! I emptyed the shelf, (I needed enough for a sweater) and felt relief... Oh what the feel of yarn does for the soul....

My 4th of July prodject is almost complete!! No not knitting (I wish) but the painting of a bedroom. A few years ago my sweet husband decided to surprize his son and paint his bedroom, (big mistake, when I have to choose the clothes he wears!) so he picked the colors, yes he used two together not as a trim, and oh boy was my step son surprized!!!! (two shades of a dark,dark green) Alex just graduatede and moved out to start college and.... the green cave is now a lovely light peach! :)
To let everyone know at the knitting circle, the back of my sweater is complete and I just might reward myself later and pick up my needles! :) Well I must see if this coat of paint is dry and finish what I have started. What a concept!

I long for the rain again so my knitting time feels guilt free!!! This week I was able to complete one felted purse and a couple of needle cozys for my secret pal. They turned out so cute! Nice way to use all the wool scraps. And then I helped my oldest son put up a new fence, and worked in the yard, cleaned house,ect ect. And now my weekend is over :( This week I am going to atempt to start a sweater for myself...Oh yea and I also learned a good lesson, don't get on e-bay late at night when your not in your right mind and bid on noro yarn, BIG MISTAKE. :)

Yea!!!! The shower and floor now have tile. Tomorrow we put in the new toilet, sink, and mirror. Needless to say not much knitting was completed this week. Sooo sad. But the tile looks so nice I might just have to take a chair in the bathroom, knit, and look at my new tile. Will post a pic sooon.... I was in Chico today and I needed a yarn fix....and I was bad, very bad. Went to my favorite yarn shop and lets just put is this way, there is a naked sheep out there somewhere.....hehehe :)

I had to put my knitting needles down this weekend :( But the good news is I'm finishing the bathroom...Let the laying of tile begin. Yea!!! an extra toilet in the house again, Which has it down side too, thats one more bathroom to clean... Oh well its worth it. My sweater class was very informative I'm working on the sleeves One more class to go and I will be a knitting sweater machine! I heard from my secret pal... Lucky girl was in Scotland on vacation. I would think that vacation was worth at least 30 hours of knitting on the airplane!!! Who needs to sleep :) Well I'm puttin on some grubbies and then its just me and the tile and grout..
